Parents as Partners
The Synergy Approach sees Parents as an integral part of the Team. We believe that Parents and Teacher need to be active partners in designing and implementing a constructive and cooperative environment. Schools have continuously failed in this ideal as it challenges both the school and the parents to work together to find solutions to meet the demands of Government Educational pressure and the holistic approach to educating children.
The historical schooling system has frequently attempted partnerships with parents but this has never really succeeded. The age old quote still stands of "Parents being the biggest stress and drain on teachers and the schooling staff."
Traditional schools have staff who are trained to teach children specific content. These staff members have not been trained on guiding and supporting parents in being active participants in the realm of schooling. Ask any teacher, working with parents is far more challenging than working with difficult children.
The Synergy Approach acknowledges that to really create a powerful schooling environment, this challenge needs to be taken on. It requires from both staff and parents an open attitude of learning and change. It requires us to develop and become our own potential that we also wish for our own children.
Out of this understanding, we engage parents as partners and require them to engage us in the same. We live and learn together.
